Last weekend, Michael and I did the Portland Bridge Pedal. This is a bike ride that goes over the bridges in Portland. There were three rides - the 6 Bridge ride, which is 14 miles, the 8 Bridge ride, which is 20+ miles, and the 11 Bridge ride, which is 37 miles.
We chose the 6 bridge ride. Since this was Michael first long ride on the trailabike, it made sense to go easy on him.
Dan and Liam joined us, with Liam also on a Trailabike. Both boys really loved it. There were places on the ride that were super crowded, and other places where we had room to ride as fast as we wanted. There were 17,000 riders taking part in all.
We went on 6 bridges, some of which can normally only be crossed by car. All of the roads were closed for us, though. All of the bridges cross the Willamette River.
When the ride finished at Waterfront Park, there were thousands of people milling around, and many vendors walking through the crowd handing out popsicles, bananas, ice cream, and (Michael's favorite) Chocolate Milk!
We'll definitely do it again. Maybe next year, we'll try the 8 bridge ride.
